Charlene and I like visiting unique places, and this is like no other.  An outdoor museum of forgotten architecture. It felt like stepping into ancient Athens and seeing all these old relics of the past, but this place is much closer than Athens.

Located at The Guild Inn Estate are pieces of buildings that no longer exist.  Like all growing cities, older buildings become the victim of newer, higher and larger ones.  The old is torn down to make way for the new. Although progress is at times unforgiving, it is very nice that there was a movement to try to save at least pieces of some of the more interesting of these demolished buildings.

The Guild Inn Estate is found in Toronto on the shore of Lake Ontario.  It is a large and freely accessible park that hosts so much of what once had to be a stunning section of the financial core of Canada’s largest city.  Anyone could be forgiven for thinking they were in Greece or Rome since so much of the design is based on those eras.

There is so much history and beauty here that I must wonder what these places must have been like in their fuller grandeur.  I can only hope this park will grow and feature more buildings that are slated for destruction and have at least part of them remain for everyone to admire their former glory.

Potato Bar

When we’re out and about and it’s time to head home, our last stop is usually Harvey’s. I love this hamburger restaurant’s meat patty, which is customizable with many topping options. It’s been my go-to when the hunger strikes. But then, Charlene’s son shared a…
