I consider it a travel sin, almost unforgivable, to go through the planning of an itinerary and not be able to go. All that work and expectation for nothing—such a letdown.
I had planned a Thanksgiving fall colour trip to New York and Pennsylvania. It was all set. The trees were at peak colour. But a hurricane had decided to form in the Gulf of Mexico and would hit right where we wanted to travel.
Our plans had to be cancelled.
Below is the travel itinerary and map for a trip never completed. That doesn’t mean it will never, ever happen; there is always next year. It now belongs in the pile of plans yet to be.
I named it Falling for the Fallen Bridge because Kinzua Bridge State Park features a bridge a tornado destroyed. Some of the destinations we had done before, and a few new ones, too.
Maybe next year.
