I like art and I like free. Now combine them together to see free art, that is the best.
The more I have travelled, the more I have discovered that universities are great places to see free things. Be these geology museums, or science places, or like Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University in New York. This art museum has great hours to visit and they rotate their collection, making repeat trips throughout the year and years, worthwhile.
We visited this place as a small add-on to a day trip where we were shopping. This stop helped break up the drive and added a level of class that visiting various malls and stores did not. An hour looking at beautiful things is great for the soul.
Last year, we saw The Andy Warhol Diaries on Netflix and was really touched by the story of Andy and his life. We toured Pittsburgh a while back and skipped visiting the Warhol Museum there. I have regretted that decision ever since. But some of that regret had eased a bit when we saw three pieces of art made by Warhol himself; this was a very nice surprise, especially at a free museum.
I will visit this place again when their collection rotates. It is practically on the route to so many places we visit in this area. Easy to find, easy to park, and easy to view.
- My free Google map, called Featured, shows this location and many others that are worth visiting; many of them are free.
