I have always loved rocks and minerals. If I had the money and the space and more money, I would have an epic display of every example I could get a hold of. I find them interesting and fantastic and amazing and wonderful and wow!
Charlene found them to be boring.
Until I converted her on a trip to the Thunder Bay region, where I took her to dig up amethyst. Since then, she has discovered almost the same passion for mineralogy as me.
Crystal Cave is a brief detour off the highway and is welcoming to anyone who stops by. Outside are several examples of larger rocks from various places around the world. They are quality specimens. Several outbuildings house various artisans, but the main feature is the actual shoppe itself.
Inside the main building is a museum of some of the best examples of rocks and minerals I have ever seen. It is free to enter and peruse the extensive collection on hand. If that isn’t a treat in itself, the store is fantastic. Each section is themed according to the minerals’ colours and is beautiful. They have a fairy display that is well done and is a labour of love in its creation. The whole shoppe is done with care and passion that is missed in so many other retail locations.
This is now the one location that I love to pop into every time we are in the area because of the quality of what they offer, the low prices and the beauty of the entire location. It is unique, free to browse and if there is something that catches your eye, the price is very reasonable.
