Kids talking to one another must speak up to be heard over the other kids talking to each other. This chatter, I call the quiet murmurations of the bus, even though it can get quite loud. There is a peacefulness to it, and when I hear this as I drive the kids back and forth to school, I know everything is calm and right.

Being a school bus driver is a fantastic thing. I am at the forefront of the new educational findings, the new changes to the English language, and most importantly, the current fashion trends.

I am driving on my route, going from stop to stop, enjoying the peace of the children who are busy in their conversations.

ALL OF A SUDDEN….

The voice of an older girl rises above everyone else and proclaims, “EVERYONE WEARS UNDERWEAR!”

I cannot say why she said this, but it did silence the bus for a moment or two. To my relief, there were no objections to this statement.

As a fashion diva, which all of you must already know about me, it is essential to stay on top of the current trends in how to cover one’s body with clothing. Hearing this child make the underwear statement and not hearing any objections assured me that my current fashion sense is on point. Decades of wearing the same underwear are still fashionably relevant.

Being a school bus driver is an enlightening experience and has filled me with knowledge I would otherwise miss out on if I were working in another profession.
