Wow!

I love planning trips, but this is the first time I have had to plan this many all at once. The past couple of months have kept me rather busy on my computer, coming up with destinations and itineraries for my travel plans and those for others.

I am not complaining.

(Okay, a bit of complaining)

The hardest part is that I have also been busy with important things in life, and finding the time to study, research, calculate, and finalize agendas has become overwhelming. Almost every free moment is going into this work.

Much goes into planning a vacation for ourselves or for someone:

  • What are the goals of this trip?
  • What do you want to see?
  • What do you not want to see?
  • How much are you willing to spend?
  • How far to travel in a day?
  • How much walking is too much?
  • Where do you want to eat?
  • Where are you staying?
  • Most importantly, how long is the trip?

Some of the trips that I have come up with include:

Mozart’s Funeral in Montreal

A simple overnight trip to see the live performance of Mozart’s Requiem in Notre Dame in Montreal. It is my favourite classical work, and the church is impressive. The Requiem is only being played on one day, but this itinerary can easily be changed to see Aura and include shopping in the surrounding blocks.  Google Maps for this trip.

Let’s Ride A Bike To The Moon

A three-day long weekend trip to Dayton, Ohio, centres around the Wright brothers, their bike shop, their innovation that allowed for powered flight, and Neil Armstrong’s going to the moon.  Google Maps for this trip.

A Girls’ Weekend in Quebec City

This is a trip to explore the historic city of Quebec. Shopping, museums, churches, and more are included. This is the standard itinerary for someone visiting this city for the first time.  Google Maps for this trip.

Autumn Trip to Northern Ontario

This itinerary was created to enjoy the fall colours of the changing seasons. This trip is done during the off-season, so much of what is open for the summer is closed by this time. Still, there is plenty to do.  Google Maps for this trip.

My Parents Leave to See the Leaves

I created this itinerary with much to do with the least amount of walking. It is also to be done during the fall colour change but is also great in winter and summer. In fact, I have taken this route each season to see everything.  Google Maps for this trip.

Grateful and Thankful for an Extra Long Thanksgiving

This is a four-day exploration trip to Cincinnati. I was eager to take my daughter on this trip, as it was her first time leaving the country.  Google Maps for this trip.

Acadia Day

An itinerary for a family to explore their home province of New Brunswick and more. This plan takes much of a week.  Google Maps for this trip.

Each of these maps and plans can easily be changed for personal use. Feel free to contact me if you need suggestions on making these trips more suitable for you.
