It was a few years ago that we stumbled upon a sculpture garden.  The day was getting late at the time, and we were exhausted from a full day of travelling and exploring.  We both agreed that we would save this destination for another trip.

I had made a mental note of the location, but by the time I got home, I had forgotten most of the details.  It was in the Toronto area, by a medical building, possibly a hospital.  This mysterious sculpture garden eluded our discovery for years.

Then:

Eureka!

I found it!

I mapped it on our list of places to visit, and we just happened to be in the Toronto area for a Doors Open Event.  We would explore this sculpture garden that we skipped years back.

But, alas, this would not be the case.

I was in the right spot, but I could not find it.

I would go home, dismayed at the missed opportunity to see art.  I would research it all again, and then I realized my error; I went to the front of the hospital, not the side.

Ugh!

A month or so later, we were in the area again, and this time, I had us walk to the side of the hospital, where we discovered the sculpture garden.

Again, I was dismayed!

This is different from the sculpture garden that we skipped years ago.

It was much better!

We had discovered a much different and more unique garden of colourful sculptures than we had expected.  They were all in human form, bright and posing in positions of varying styles.

This was indeed a find.

It was interesting that some of the sculptures’ actions would have had them wind up in a hospital.  But they were all joyful and did lend an escape for those viewing it.

We would stay and admire all of them.  Yet, I would leave this place wondering where on earth was the garden that I missed really was located.

  • This is a free-access site that is located at the side of the hospital.  Walk along the path that parallels the highway to find it.
  • Free parking on the street is very limited.
  • Expect to spend 20 minutes at this location.
