I can say with complete honesty that I never understood the value of a tip until I became a school bus driver. I have been in the service industry for most of my career, and it is only now that I am getting tips.

I have made several posts about how I have been receiving tips from the students that I take back and forth from school. I have been saving these tips for a special reward when I buy a Timbit at the end of the year. My savings are growing with my newest tip, and I should confidently be able to purchase this 35-cent treat.

This morning, I am doing what is called a circle check on my bus before I head out. This checking ensures that if anything needs fixing, I can get it done before I start picking up the kids, or if it is not a quick fix, I get a different bus for the day. It was at this time that I noticed the tip for my tremendous bus driving skills and friendly service to these children. I picked it up with glee, like a child finding a quarter on a sidewalk.

In fact, it was a quarter!

Add this to my first tip of a dime, I have enough money for a Timbit!

YIPPEE!

I was expecting to have enough saved for a Timbit by the end of the year, but with this newfound wealth, I will savour this as a Christmas bonus!

Off to Timmies, I go.
