When we’re out and about and it’s time to head home, our last stop is usually Harvey’s. I love this hamburger restaurant’s meat patty, which is customizable with many topping options. It’s been my go-to when the hunger strikes. But then, Charlene’s son shared a TikTok video about a unique concept-a restaurant solely dedicated to serving potatoes. The novelty of it piqued my interest—and my appetite, too.

Potatoes are an incredibly versatile food item. There are many ways to cook them and even more ways to serve this tasty, fluffy root vegetable. This one food item is very satisfying when eaten, making it the most popular item on anyone’s plate.

I casually looked at their online menu, noticed the large number of available toppings, and then saw where the nearest location was. We happened to be spending our weekend touring the cities of Oshawa and Hamilton for a Doors Open event. Doors Open is one of my favourite events, and potatoes are one of my favourite foods, so the merging of the two would make this day a great one.

We enjoyed touring Oshawa and what was to view at Doors Open on Saturday. It was time to go home; Potato Bar was near the intersection where we had to start heading north. Charlene, being her own boss, ordered the Be Your Own Boss option, which allows a fully customizable baked potato. She added her choices, whereas I had the Fries Nachoo, a creation of their own, for which I did not modify any of the toppings.

I have to admit that I have an obsession with food. A smell, a thought, or any suggestion will make me think about and crave food. I did lay in bed all night pondering what other potato creation I would like at Potato Bar.

The good news was that I had plans to visit Hamilton on Sunday for their Doors Open Event. We would pass the same Potato Bar on our way home.

When I suggested going there again at the end of our tour, Charlene also enjoyed her meal enough that she had no problem going to the same restaurant two days in a row. This time, Charlene ordered Take It Cheezy with added steak and sour cream, while I ordered the Big Philly.

We made good choices in our selection.

The prices are higher than we usually pay when we have something to eat, but the quality of the ingredients made this experience worth it. It is a popular restaurant with many options, and it is a place we will go to whenever we are in the area craving nature’s best food.
