I love mini-stops.  These are places where I put into our itinerary when we are travelling.  Generally, it is a quick stop to look at something, snap a picture, and away we go to the next destination.  But sometimes, a mini-stop turns into something bigger.

This was the case for Husky the Muskie.  The parking lot for this attraction is across the street, and we would have to walk for a minute or two to get to see it.  After sitting in a car for a while, it’s a perfect excuse to get the blood flowing again.  We discovered this location needed more exploration than a quick pic and go.

We passed by a tugboat, a water fountain, a lovely floral garden and a couple of heritage plaques.  We stayed far longer than anticipated and realized that this was one of the nicest city parks we had seen.  The setting is beautiful, especially on this sunny summer afternoon.  It is well-maintained.  And very welcoming to stay for a little while or for a long time.

Husky the Muskie and McLeod Park became the largest mini-stop to date and was part of our trip to Alaska and back.
