Recently, we visited the Akron Zoo as part of a weekend trip Celebrating the Queen’s Birthday While Visiting a Foreign Country. For our visit, we arrived at a great moment. The weather was comfortable, the sun was bright, and several families shared the experience with us.

The one thing I liked about the zoo was that there would be one exhibit and another just steps away. There was no vast distance to walk between the animals. And when there was walking, there was an arrangement of plants, art, or trees; no space was wasted in this small zoo.

Despite the perfect weather, many of the more popular animals were off display. But those that were did give a great show by being active and even interacting with their spectators.

Akron Zoo is a great place to visit for an afternoon. The entry fee was more than reasonable, and they had a great display of animals, some of which we had never seen before.

  • Free on-site parking.
  • Reasonable admission fee.
  • The gift shop was also reasonably priced.
  • Expect to spend three to four hours here.
