My daughter, Caitlyn, has a great birthday date: December. As a parent, I can save huge amounts of money and tell her that this is both her Christmas and birthday present. There is always a sense of relief and joy whenever I find a way to be frugal.

Cait has some time off, and I have decided to take her to the Detroit area to celebrate her birthmas. I came up with this travel plan and called her to see if she liked it.

Then she reminded me of an important thing: the reason she had this time off was due to a minor surgery.

Oh?

Yeah, that is right. I remember now.

This time off wasn’t to celebrate her birthday or to go on a trip; she needed the time off to fix something and then recover from the fix.

So, for the moment, it is a trip we will not be taking. We can reschedule this mini-vacation for the weekend or two following, or I can modify it for a Christmas vacation just for Charlene and me.
