My very first post on this website was about our visit to a rock. Charlene, my beloved wife, was none too impressed that I was taking her to see a rock and expressed a lot of displeasure that we were wasting our time on it.

Then we saw the rock, and she was impressed. It was not any old rock but the Bleasdell Boulder, an erratic rock that had moved to its location by glaciers. It is one of the farthest-moved glacial rocks known.

Since Bleasdell Boulder, I have been trying to find other rocks to visit. We have seen some really amazing ones, some even bigger than Bleasdell. So it is a natural part of our trips now to include some rock of note. We toured the East Coast this summer, and I had to find something special. I found it in Rockley, Nova Scotia.

Unlike many of the rocks we have seen, this one has its very own website! How cool is that?!

According to many who have visited the Rock, being with this Rock is a life-changing experience. Some experience a spiritual awakening. Hundreds, thousands, possibly millions, but more likely dozens of people have made the same trek to this Rock of Rockley.

We were fortunate to arrive when we did. The parking lot for the Rock was empty, and we did not have to fight off the crowds, so we could spend as much time as we wanted with The Rock of Rockley. I can only imagine that the traffic jam of people trying to see the Rock must stretch tens of metres.

I was able to approach the Rock and be at one with it: no crowds, no bugs, no annoying cattle in the way, just me and the Rock. It was just as magical as I could expect. Charlene was so overcome with emotion that she could not bear to bring herself any closer to the esteemed Rock of Rockley, and she would not speak to me for over an hour. That alone expresses how wonderful the Rock is.

I posed for a picture to capture my joy in Rockley, Nova Scotia. It was the highlight of that hour. Such a great rock!
